End of Year Exhibition

This assignment looked at creating an identity for the End of Year Exhibition at the University of Melbourne. for the 2022 GDES Graduating Exhibition is a celebration of our development from students to graphic designers. Being given the opportunity to design for our own exhibition, we wanted to ensure that the logo encompassed each student’s individual design style- celebrating and acknowledging that without our diverse ways of thinking and designing, graphic design would be boring. This is reflected by the handwritten style and texture of the abbreviation ‘eye’ over the digital type ‘End of Year Exhibition.’ The logo takes three forms, each with a different style and colour of handwriting, symbolic of us, as individual designers, leaving our mark on the exhibition- both literally and figuratively. The interaction between digital and handwritten text also mirrors the dual-delivery of our course- beginning online and shifting to on-campus. Additionally, the collages created incorporate past briefs past assignments and assigned colours for each topic. This idea of ‘organised chaos’ was what was explored in the craziness of university under covid-19.
